We Made it to Here
We Made it to Here
Supporting Aboriginal young people in our community through this time
The last couple years have been tough for all of us — but often there are unique challenges different groups and individuals face that we can overlook if we’re not aware of them. This episode explores what some of those unique challenges have been for Aboriginal young people and families in our community over the last couple years.
I got around the table with two good friends of mine, Rob Waters and Kirstin Booker, who both work in Aboriginal education and support young people in schools across the Coast. We had a chat about education, mental health, recovery and the importance of First Nations perspectives in all of these conversations.
The show is primarily intended to be educational and empowering. However, as is always important with mental health conversations, if you need to pause at any point and reach out for extra support please do. You can call the NSW Mental Health Line 24 hours a day on 1800 011 511.
‘We Made it to Here’ is part of the Disaster Resilience Program, funded by the Hunter New England, and Central Coast Primary Health Network. It has been produced and delivered collaboratively by Lead by Story and headspace Gosford and Lake Haven.
